E3 Inner Gaming Otaku Awakens

Aniverse

So E3 has already started and i'm late in writing as usual. Although Aniverse is for anime-related news and shinanigans, I don't see the problem in covering something else besides Anime! Anyway, its E3 from June 2nd to June 4th with many new games coming out soon plus new things from the Nintendo, Sony, and Microsoft press conference. Lets see what there is so far!

So i'm gonna skip all of the other games i'm really not interested in and name all the ones that I can't wait to be released!

First on my list: "Final Fantasy XIII" This JRPG will be epic! I posted last month the videos on the first 40 mins of the demo but they were taken off because youtube likes to be anally gay of the copyright law bullshit. But now a full english trailer is now available and also gameplay footage from the creators themselves. Nothing has been said yet about Final Fantasy Versus XIII but at least it will soon follow after Final Fantasy XIII.

Following Final Fantasy XIII will come Final Fantasy XIV, no brainer there which was expected, but the surprise was that it is going to be Online just like Final Fantasy XI. =O WTF? Seriously? Why? And so soon also? 2010!? Damn. Thats right folks, Final Fantasy XIV Online will be ONLINE for the PS3 at the moment and will be coming out 2010. No other information has been given besides that.

Next on the list is Super Mario Galaxy 2. I have played Super Mario Galaxy on the Wii and have loved it just like I loved Super Mario Bros. 3 for the NES. From the looks of the trailer, Yoshi will be introduced into the sequel and many new worlds/planets will be available to explore. This will be another family fun game as expected from the Mario series.

Another great game to note from Nintendo is Metroid: Other M. Yes! Metroid is back and different than the Metroid Prime games which by seeing the trailers and game footages its a mix of FPS and RPG blended together taking advantage of both 3rd person view and 1st person view. Although the technology is nothing new, it is still amazing when used on a popular game that has been around for years and its still pleases the fans of this series.

What are some of the games that you are looking forward to?

A big announcement made by Microsoft was their new technology which is code named: Project Natal (weird name for an awesome technology). This new technology introduced to gaming consoles, is a big step-up to how you interact with the gaming console and the games and/or other smaller things. With this technology, a controller is not required, you are the controller, your movements and hand-gestures is how you interact with the gaming system. Its similar to how the Wii is but without the controller. If you would like to get a better grasp of what i'm saying, below is a clip of what "Project Natal" is and how it will change the interaction between the real-life plane and the digital plane.

Sony is not too far from what Microsoft has come up with, but to my dismay, Microsoft's "Project Natal" seems much better than Sony's Motion Controller. It is similar to what Microsoft has done, where you interact in the digital plane, but you still have a controller-type device to interact on the digital plane. It's just like the Wii controller, but for the PS3. Not overly impressed but at least they brought something to the PS3. Footage on how it works below.

So there you have what is just the beginning of E3 2009. Are there any gamer otakus here? If so, what is you take on whats unfolding in E3 2009?
